Novra Foods launches in 2026 with six plant-based corn cake snacks — crafted in Europe, built for the Arabian Gulf. This is the story of why we built it, what we built, and who we built it for.
There is a gap in the Arabian Gulf's food market that is difficult to articulate precisely because it is everywhere at once. Walk the snack aisle of any premium supermarket in Dubai, Riyadh, or Doha and you will find shelves stacked high — multinationals, private label, import brands from every continent. You will find abundance. What you will not easily find is excellence. Not in the category we care about. Not in plant-based snacking. Not at the level this market deserves.
That gap is why Novra Foods exists.
"We built Novra Foods on one refusal — the refusal to make plant food that asks anything of the consumer. No patience. No 'considering the source.' Only excellence, on its own terms."
— Novra Foods, founding briefThe Brief. The Gap. The Decision.
In 2024, we wrote a brief. It was short. It said: the Arabian Gulf has six of the world's most demanding food markets. Consumers here are internationally educated, ingredient-aware, and accustomed to the best of everything — in hospitality, in retail, in food service. The plant-based category, by contrast, has largely treated this region as a secondary market. Products designed for European or American consumers, translated poorly, distributed late, priced without local logic.
We studied the market carefully. We looked at what was available, what was selling, what was missing. The gap we confirmed was not a gap in options — it was a gap in craft. The plant-based snack that could stand next to the finest cheese, the best charcuterie, the most considered table in the room — and belong there — did not exist in this market. We decided to make it.
European Craft. Why It Matters.
We did not choose European manufacturing for the provenance story, although that story is true. We chose it because Germany and the Netherlands are home to the world's most advanced plant food manufacturers — specialists who have spent decades refining plant protein extrusion, grain pressing, and flavour development to a precision that does not exist elsewhere at scale.
Our partners were not selected for their proximity to a distribution hub, or because they were the most affordable option. They were selected because they are the best at what they do — and because the ingredients they work with are grown, not processed. The corn in our corn cakes is European corn. The extra virgin olive oil is cold-pressed. The za'atar blend carries wild thyme and oregano sourced from the same traditions that have carried those herbs for centuries. Nothing is engineered to approximate. Everything is the thing itself.
